On a morning walk, listening to a video of Wayne Dyer providing insight, I heard this, “What you did today sent ripples all the way to heaven.” *
His point was not to allow yourself to think that only big gestures, achieving large goals, are making a noted difference. Instead, Dyer offered, “What truly matters in the grand scheme of existence are the small moments of love, kindness, awareness, and authenticity that you brought into the world today.”
Interesting to think of how the energy of a kindness or a helpful gesture to another can flow out to others.
Try This: Helping Others Helps You Spread Joy
It is reassuring that even in crazy times, we still do have the ability to spread joy. Here are some ideas to lift spirits this week:
- Offer to do an errand for an elderly neighbor or friend who is recovering from a medical issue at home.
- Jump to hold the elevator or open a door for a stranger who has their arms full.
- Text a quick "thinking of you" message to a friend or relative who is going through a tough time.
- Surprise someone by treating them to lunch or dropping off a favorite snack.
My favorite thing to do when walking is to greet everyone, including neighbors, dogwalkers, construction workers, lawn guys, and others who will make eye contact. I simply give a big smile and call, “Good Morning!” It’s amazing how it brightens their faces.
