Tell a Secret

It's always fun to share stories, victories, and jokes, to connect with friends and family. Yet sometimes we get scary movies in our heads that need a bigger shift back to positivity.

The idea of "spilling the beans" is not usually considered a good thing, it can be another option in your back pocket to dispel stress and connect with others. Now, it's not about a serious secret that should not be shared. Rather, I'm talking about something you feel  gets you out of your head while relating to another person.

Liked this description by author Frederick Buehner, "It is important to tell our secrets too because it makes it easier that way to see where we have been in our lives and where we are going. It also makes it easier for other people to tell us a secret or two of their own, and exchanges like that have a lot to do with what being a family is all about and what being human is all about."*

Try This: Tell a Secret!

One aspect of sharing is giving one of your own foibles to relate to another person. It may help the other person feel understood and able to share theirs as well. For this week, here are some ideas as starters:

  • "I'm going to let you in on a secret."
  • "Please don't mention this to anyone."
  • "I have something important to share with you."

It can be a thoughtful process to help you create a meaningful and healing experience. Or, it can simply be to share something silly that makes you and your confidant laugh.
