The end of the first three months of the year is almost shocking in how fast time seems to pass. If you feel the squeeze on your goals and dreams or simply projects that are not seeming to gain traction, you're not alone!
With the crazy acceleration of AI technologies, economic pressures, and family stresses, sometimes it can feel overwhelming. You might even feel stuck, so the key is to give yourself permission to stop and shift.
Try This: Lean into Your PIVOT
The idea of a simple move to help get unstuck or feel motivated comes with a pivot. Consider Dr. Priest's PIVOT Framework* as a mindset to cope with changes or a stall in your dream, goals or projects. Here is my version of her framework:
- Practice the Pause - when stressed, just take a moment to breathe
- Invite Support - ask others around you for their thoughts or ideas on getting unstuck
- Verify Feelings - take a few minutes to assess and verify what aligns with your goals
- Ownership for Accountability - set expectations of what you can do with a pivot
- Trust the Process - regularly check on your progress to keep moving forward
It's often hard to stop and rethink your steps forward when you pivot. Yet I find it helpful to try other ideas and engage with friends to get support. Learning to pivot is also a great suggestion for young people in your life to give them another tool to cope with today’s constant change.
