It's that time of year when we look back at what we did and didn't accomplish. And then the next step is to start getting ready for the New Year by focusing on new goals or ideas. In years past, a good friend, Pat D., would say how she loved this special exercise because it helped motivate her.
The exercise was choosing a word of the year to focus on achieving more with a smile. For this past year, mine has been "Brave."
Try This: Choose Your Word of the Year
In honor of Pat, who became an angel in 2024, a link to the video that she recorded with me is below. Also, here is an idea to do this week to help you pick a word to motivate you in 2026:
- Watch this 16-minute video on YouTube: "Create a Fab 2022 Part One Word of the Year": https://youtu.be/eICLJbuXVTQ?si=jeSQ5M-znmrv5LD-
- Jot down 3-5 words that come to you after thinking of the year ahead.
- Choose the one that makes you smile.
- Post your Word of the Year: Put it on your daily online calendar, make a graphic to use as a lock screen background for your phone, write it on a hanging wall calendar, or make a little sign for your desk or kitchen counter.
On early morning walks, Pat and I would share our words and what good things were happening because of capturing one that helped motivate us. Miss you, Pat!
