Lean Into a Mother’s Love

When I was a young divorcee and an only child, it was my prayer for God to bring children into my life.  I didn't believe I was going to have my own. Fortunately, my prayers were answered when my college sweetheart called as he was getting divorced. He had four boys. Then after we married, another bonus happened when we had a daughter.

In reflecting on Mother's Day, here's a good quote in an article by Erica Komisar, from the Institute for Family Studies blog. that is inspiring:  "A mother’s love gives children this sense of themselves in the world - as whole and imperfect, but loved and valuable."*

Thank you, God, for giving me the opportunity to have children in my life and experience giving a mother's love!

Try This: Lean Into a Mother's Love

Whether you are a mom, can be with your mom, or simply want to remember a mother who has passed, consider celebrating. Here are some fun ideas:

  • Pull out a favorite recipe to make for your mom or do it together.
  • Open a fun craft like painting, vision boarding, or candle making.
  • Grab a few scrapbooks to look through and tell family stories.
  • Put on some fun family movies.
  • Play a few nostalgic songs and dance around.

Today, Amanda has planned for us to watch Wicked movies together. What about you?
