Ever have one of those days when you can’t quite land on the next project or the next thing on your "to do" list? Then, you realize that everything will take much longer than you want to commit that day.
Today, I saw this quote from the late South African Anglican Archbishop, Desmond Tutu, "Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." *
Those simple words, "do a little bit of good," really spoke to me and sparked my creativity. It led me to think that doing a small thing that makes you and maybe someone else smile can break through "to do" list paralysis!
Try this: Do a little bit of good today!
When feeling overwhelmed, it is so helpful to find something fun to distract you and make you smile. Here are a few ideas:
- Do a random act of kindness like opening a door for someone.
- Mail a "thinking of you" card to a friend or family member.
- Take a walk and pick up trash that has been left on the side of the road.
- Jot a love note for a significant other next to their phone or leave one in a lunchbox for a child to find at lunch.
- Email someone you haven’t talked to in a long time that you're thinking of him/her.
You might have a favorite way to spread a little good and the key is that you get reenergized to get back to that pesky "to do" list.
