Follow That Hunch

The other day, my daughter popped into my mind and I wondered if she was going to call. Within seconds, my phone buzzed!

Having a “hunch” like that is always surprising and fun. Often, we think it was a coincidence. Yet, according to Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of a hunch is “an idea that is based on feeling and for which there is no proof.”

Some people liken hunches to intuition, while others prefer to ignore them. As Albert Einstein said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”**

Consider embracing hunches as a chance to lead with your heart rather than your ego.

Try This: Follow a hunch today!

Here is a fun exercise to do this week if you want to embrace hunches as a valuable tool for channeling your ideas and intuitions. Each morning this week:

  • Close your eyes.
  • Take three deep, slow breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • Ask what the day ahead will hold and then blank your mind.
  • Breathe deeply and notice any changes in your body or images that appear.
  • Open your eyes and jot down the images, words, or other impressions.
  • Before bed, check your notes to see what transpired in your day.

It may not seem things are coming to you at first. Yet, watch for the surprise at how many connections begin to arise as you let your intuition take a front seat.
