Hope you had a few good "hunches" this week from last week's blog post. Yet it is still sometimes hard to recognize or understand just what your hunches mean or the reason for a feeling in your gut!
It was fascinating to read this quote by Dame Agatha Christie, "Women observe subconsciously a thousand little details without knowing that they are doing so. Their subconscious mind adds these little things together - and they call the result intuition." *
Her take on "feminine intuition" is about how our brains take random bits of information and spit out a thought or conclusion. While it is almost instinctual, there is an important aspect of recognizing these intuitive thoughts as valid answers to our questions.
Try This: Ask Your Intuition
When making decisions, whether big or small, we all can engage our subconscious to come up with ideas, solutions, or ways forward. Why not get in the habit of asking for them on a regular basis? Here are ways to exercise your intuition:
- How do you feel? Pay attention to how you feel physically when making decisions. Does your stomach feel tight or relaxed? Do you feel a sense of excitement or dread? These can be clues to guide you.
- Are you being mindful? Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment without judgment. By cultivating mindfulness, we can quiet our minds and connect with our inner wisdom. Take a few moments each day to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and tune in to your intuition.
- Can you jot down your thoughts? Many people find writing in a journal helpful to gain clarity and to connect with their intuition.
- Want to banish your doubt about counting on your intuition? When you "hear" an intuition, act on it. Even a small step can begin inspiring you to trust your inner voice more often!
During the week, each day ask for an answer to appear for a project, concern, or problem that arises. Or just play with your dreams and goals by seeking clarity about next steps. It's a fun way to get in the habit of better understanding what your intuition is trying to tell you!
