Vividly Imagine

When on a morning walk last week, I was listening to Dr. Joe Dispenza's YouTube video* about how the mind doesn't know the difference between reality, and something vividly imagined. His point was to rehearse positive messages about what you desire or dream about doing before starting your day.

Is that a way to trick your mind? Yes, but for a good purpose. "The research on mental rehearsal shows that the brain will look like it’s already had the experience...the body's believing it’s in that new future!"*

The key is that coaching yourself on positive outcomes, rewiring your brain, helps you more easily handle situations that arise.

Try this: Vividly Imagine Your Best Day Every Morning

Each day this week, start with imagining the day ahead in the best way possible.  Dr. Dispenza suggests doing this for seven days to experience the benefits of retraining your brain. Here is how easy it is:

  • Start each morning with 5-7 minutes of visualization or meditation with your eyes closed.
  • Jot down in a journal or on a sticky note new things that come to mind.
  • Focus on the upbeat, positive feelings of how great it will be to achieve new and amazing things in your life.

It makes sense that if you rehearse positive outcomes in your mind, you will be able to handle difficult situations with more ease and less emotion.  The key is how simple this practice is to help reset yourself every morning to better manage your day ahead!
