For the first week of September, it is time to get energized after the fun summer. Yet the hardest part of being productive is sustaining a consistent schedule. For example, I always have stories in my head, but the demands of the day can interfere with my inspiration to sit down and write.
As best-selling author, Julia Cameron, says, "When our lives become too frantic, our art retreats. It does not thrive on life lived pell-mell."* It is crazy, but she leads to the need to baby our creative spirit rather than just let it flow. So, creativity takes quiet and peace.
Try This: Jumpstart Your Creative Battery
If you can gain some tricks or tips on how to get creative, you can shift easily when needed. For distraction from stress and get back to pursuing your projects, try this simple set of questions:
- What are 5 things you see?
- What are 4 things you hear?
- What are 3 things you smell?
- What are 2 things you can reach out and touch?
- What is 1 thing you recently tasted?
These physical distractions can help you regroup and focus on being present. That's when energy rises in your spirit and recharges your creativity battery!
