Back in the March post "Lean into Your Intuition," there was a simple process to listen to your own thoughts. To get moving this Fall, there are so many decisions that start to pop up from new projects, family events, career opportunities, trips and more.
According to intuition expert and best-selling author, Lynn A. Robinson, M.Ed., "Understanding that our intuition communicates through our energy is key to using it more often when making decisions." She adds, "Your intuition doesn't always speak in words." *
So, it got me thinking about her suggestion that the next time a new project, job, assignment, or direction comes your way, try a new technique.
Try This: Get Your Intuition Energized
When trying to make decisions, there is a benefit in asking for guidance from your intuition and skipping the endless analysis that your mind starts offering. According to Robinson, here is a way to start sensing your intuition:
- Is this something I want to do now? Your intuition understands timing.
- Am I excited or energized by the thought of taking it on? Pay attention to your first reaction within your body.
- Before your mind starts listing reasons why you should or shouldn't say "yes," notice what happens in your body. Your intuition often communicates through your energy long before your thoughts catch up. Robinson offered these:
- Do I feel lighter?
- Curious?
- Motivated?
- Do I catch myself imagining what's possible?
- Or do I immediately feel tired, obligated, or drained?
This is a great way to be more aware of trusting internal reactions and the ideas that pop in rather than forcing a decision after too much mulling over it. Then, I can let my excitement grow and feel better about the decision that truly fits my path.
