Strive To Be Curious

The summer heat does change our habits, like heading to the mountains or time at the beach for a fun vacay. Yet now that many schools are back in session, it's like being pushed back into getting over-scheduled.

As I wondered how to manage moving into a busy schedule, the adage, "Curiosity killed the cat" popped in that made me stop to think. Wondering where it originated, I found the older proverb, "Care killed the cat," which appeared in the late 16th century. "Care" in this context meant worry or sorrow, not curiosity. The shift to "curiosity" is thought to have happened in the late 19th century, possibly due to a cat’s reputation for being inquisitive.* It's a great habit. Being curious can be a good habit for us humans!
