One Breath – One Step – One Day at a Time

Sometimes it's hard to focus when several things hit your schedule. From work to family to home projects, there are many things and people who impact our busy lives.

As you go about your day, do you have ways of coping with the distractions and demands on your time? I have a great, easy way to embrace the crazy while taking care of yourself

Try This: One Breath - One Step - One Day at a Time

The beauty of a simple technique to shift our mood is the ease of carrying it with you every day. Here is my idea:

  • One breath - When you take a deep breath, make sure you take in the most air to fill your lungs. Hold the air in for several counts. Then, let out the air and make sure to use your diaphragm to squeeze hard. It eases anxiousness and relaxes you.
  • One step - If you feel stuck or overwhelmed, after the breath, stand up and take one step forward. While it seems so easy, it pulls you forward and gets you going.
  • One day at a time - Once you have done your relaxing breath and taken a step forward, say to yourself, "I’ve got this, one day at a time!"

That's all it takes and hopefully makes you smile by doing those three simple things. Because every day offers a new chance, new hours, and new vistas, you can take a deep breath, put one foot in front of the other, and start again with a smile!
