Be Thought-Full

Life can be so distracting, right?

This week we had new shingles put on our roof because of hail damage last summer. OMG, the noise, the pounding, and the scraping...all started at 5 am!

Because it made it hard to concentrate, I was filled with anxiety. So, this quote from Madhu Shrestha* gave me an idea:

"Being thoughtful is a way to gain a sense of accomplishment in your own small world and gives you a lot of positive energy to make you feel happy about yourself." *

Try This: Be Thought-Full!

Focusing and using quiet time to gain more peace of mind is what I call "being thought-full!" Yes, that’s not a typo, it's my emphasis on getting into that mindful space:

  1. Find a Comfortable Space: Choose a quiet location where you can sit without distractions.
  2. Sit Upright: Maintain a straight posture with your back and neck relaxed.
  3. Close Your Eyes: If comfortable, closing your eyes can help to deepen your focus.
  4. Focus on Your Breath: Pay attention to the sensation of your breath moving in and out of your body.
  5. Observe Your Thoughts and Sensations: Acknowledge any thoughts or sensations that arise, without judgment, and gently redirect your focus back to your breath.
  6. Practice Regularly: Even short periods of quiet sitting can be beneficial, so start with a few minutes and gradually increase the duration.

When you are stressed or feeling distracted, using these simple steps enables you to have happy thoughts to boost your mood.
