Try Writing a Poem to Get Creative

When feeling the need to jumpstart my creativity earlier this year, I noticed a Writer's Digest poetry challenge to write a poem every day in April. They provided the prompt each day to get started.  Not knowing much about writing poetry, I thought it would be fun.

One of the aspects of poetry from writing coach and editor, K.M. Barkley, "Poetry can give you insights into yourself that you never knew existed but always wanted to understand." *

While there are many forms of poetry, I elected to do something very simple - a 4-line rhyming poem. Here's an example for the prompt of one day, “From where I sit...” I gaze outside the window
At the breezy, sunny day.
Makes me restless, wondering how
To get doubt out of my way.
