When you were a little kid, did you aspire to be something special when you grew up? My dream at 12 years old was to write the sequel to Gone with the Wind and other amazing stories. My teachers were supportive of my writing and one teacher mentioned to my mother that she should send my stories into the children’s magazines. But my mom told me "no" because she didn’t want me to be rejected.
Isn't it incredible that as an adult, the scene is still crystal clear of walking out of the classroom when my mom basically said she didn't believe in me?
Going through childhood, there were often pieces of guidance that our parents gave us that pushed our dreams to the far back burner.
