During a walk with my daughter, Amanda, last week in the neighborhood, we were caught by the aroma of orange blossoms filling the air from budding trees. It is so great to know it's officially Spring and with its arrival, comes an amazing feeling of growth, fresh perspectives, and new beginnings.
Yet, there may be some unfinished business that you have from the start of the year. Maybe you have been distracted from making progress on some personal goals. The big ideas you had to achieve have been thwarted by the continuing COVID issues.
When I was thinking of how my best laid plans had been going kind of wonky, this bible verse popped up:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV* It is so reassuring to believe in invisible hands, weaving great paths that will allow us to succeed in our dreams and goals. Yet, it is still important to act and to move forward.
Try this - Use a Mini Plan
When you feel stuck or not making enough progress in some personal goals you set this year, consider a smaller perspective of your path. Here is a way to do a mini plan:
- Dream - for just a few minutes, think of a personal goal and then let your imagination flow.
- Baby Step - take one action that came from your dreaming that can move you forward, no matter how small.
- Repeat - during the week, each morning use the dream minutes to find and take a baby step.
The benefit of a mini plan of Dream - Baby Step - Repeat is that it is a great way to get back on track!
