Handle Holiday Stress with a Snap

It’s easy to get caught up in all the holiday fun and want to do everything. My favorite is putting up the decorations while playing holiday music. The sparkling lights add so much to the house on the outside and on the tree inside.

The stress from adding celebrations, more decorating, and lots of shopping to your normal busy schedule can be hard to manage.

For another way to think about handling stress, consider what Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “The truth is that there is no actual stress or anxiety in the world; it's your thoughts that create these false beliefs.”*

Try This: Get Happy in a Snap!

If stress is coming from feeling overwhelmed about how much you have to do, it’s important to find a way to reset your mood. Here is a quick fix:

  • Think about what is stressing you at this moment.
  • Frown as hard as you can for the count of 10.
  • Snap your fingers and smile big for the count of 10.
  • Frown again for the count of 10.
  • Snap your fingers and smile big for the count of 10.

Even if this seemed silly, it works like magic to distract your mind away from stress. I find the clicking sound is also a distraction that helps me reset to happy.
