With busy holidays, especially during a pandemic, the mind can play tricks on us. Out of nowhere, we can get anxious. For example, will that present you ordered arrive on time or can you get together with loved ones wearing a mask or Zoom instead? Will things get back to normal in 2021?
Worrisome thoughts build up all day until the time you lie down to go to sleep.
One thing that dispels those anxieties and worries is shifting your thoughts to those of gratitude. Here is a suggestion from singer, songwriter, Roy Orbison:
“Before you go to sleep, do not forget to say thanks for everything good that has happened to you in the last 24 hours.”* Focusing on things you are thankful for is a wonderful way to program your mind. And below is another exercise that can help you be more peaceful.
Try this - Last 5 Minutes Before Sleep
As you lie down, close your eyes, and use some simple suggestions before going to sleep. Place in your imagination three-word statements like:
- I am well
- I am wealthy
- I am healthy
- I am happy
- I am wise
The idea is to shift to good thoughts and let go of any problems, stress or anxiety that is hovering around the edges of your mind. Being focused on what you intend, whether being well, wealthy, healthy, happy, and wise, or other of your desires, you will find answers speeding their way to you. What answers do you want to attract in dreams or waking moments in the morning?
