Having headed to Hershey, PA, for a granddaughter's high school graduation, it got me a bit anxious trying to meet all my obligations for the week. With summer travels, family events, work projects, and more, it's no wonder that the many details and distractions can get in the way of even enjoying the fun.
So, it helps to listen to your intuition about what can help calm oneself. From intuition expert, Lynn Robinson, "You don't need a grand plan or a big leap - just one small, intentional step toward caring for yourself. That’s where momentum (and the magic) begins."*
Try This: Try One Small Thing Today for Magic
According to Robinson, "Whether it's rest, movement, connection, support, or simply space to breathe - your intuition will always guide you when you slow down and ask." So, here's an idea:
- Start by asking yourself, "What’s a small thing I could do today?"
- Then, consider options like:
- If you're tired, could you go to bed 15 minutes earlier tonight?
- If you feel disconnected, can you walk in nature, put your bare feet in grass outside, or just step outside for 3 deep breaths of fresh air?
- If you’re craving clarity, could you journal for 5 minutes or sit quietly and listen within?
- Finally, there is magic in these moments, so jot down what thoughts or nudges came to you during the "small thing" you choose.
It's always handy to have that "go to" for getting your sanity back or feeling upbeat to tackle more stuff. My favorite thing is to go to bed a bit early and watch a comic like Nate Bargatze for a couple minutes. Then, I go to sleep with a smile!
