Earlier this week, my husband, Denny, gave me an interesting topic for the message. He found the following "Good Karma - Note to Self" on Facebook:
“What is my purpose in life?” I asked the void.
"What if I told you that you fulfilled it when you took an extra hour to talk to a kid about his life?" said the voice.
"Or when you paid for that young couple in the restaurant? Or when you saved that dog in traffic? Or when you tied your father's shoes for him?"
"Your problem is that you equate your purpose with goal-based achievement. The Universe isn’t interested in your achievements…just your heart. When you choose to act out of kindness, compassion and love, you are already aligned with your true purpose...no need to look further!" (Author unknown)
Try this - Note to Self
With the start of a new month and the joy of Easter, think of ways you use your heart to make a difference. This week, start a page in your journal or on a piece of paper titled "Note to Self." Add something each day like:
- An act of kindness that helped another to get through a tough moment.
- A quick call, text or email just to check in on a family member or friend.
- Treating someone to a coffee, a meal, or other gift, just for fun.
- A time you reached out because the person came to mind and found they needed a sympathetic ear.
Each time something is written on your "Note to Self," consider how it makes you feel. Bet it will make you smile and help you recognize you're already on purpose!
